Position Title: Poteau Virtual Academy Social Studies Teacher

 

Qualifications: 

• 6-12 Social Studies Certification (Adjunct Possibilities Available)
• Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certification

 

Reports To: Poteau Virtual Academy Principal

 

Nature and Scope of Position: The most important function of this role 

is a love of teaching and a passion for building meaningful and 

long-lasting relationships with students and their families. We are 

looking for an individual who is excited about the craft of teaching and 

willing to think outside of the box to create a new and innovative learning 

environment for our students and their families. 

 

Major Duties Include but Not Limited To: 

• Teach grades 6-12 
• Provide high-quality instruction to students both virtually and in-person as needed during regular school hours
• Work in-person at the Poteau Virtual Academy site
• Engage with students in a dynamic classroom environment using Edmentum, Google Classroom, etc. 
• Have in-depth and updated information about the structure, concepts and facts of the subjects assigned to teach
• Collaborate positively and effectively with Poteau Virtual Academy team members to improve student outcomes and create a cohesive and positive learning environment for all involved
• Be flexible to meet the needs of our students and their families
• Be creative to help improve upon and create new and innovative educational curriculum 
• Have a good understanding of the technology needed to effectively perform the role of a virtual teacher
• Align instructional practices and resources with Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS)
• Maintain updated records of student performance including grades and assessment data
• Carry out other tasks assigned by their principal

 

Evaluation: Teachers will be evaluated in accordance with Oklahoma 

Minimum Criteria for Effective Teaching and board of education policy.
